Outlook Error : Cannot open your default e-mail folder

When i opened my outlook 2007 today, i got an error message “Cannot open your default e-mail folder, the file D:\Backup\PST\Outlook.pst is not a personal folders file.”.
The solution was to run the scanpst file and scan the pst file (Outlook.pst). Many errors were detected and repaired.
The issue got resolved.
